I look once more just around the riverbend. Beyond the shore where the gulls fly free. Don’t know what for. What I dream the day might send. Just around the riverbend, for me, coming for me. From the movie Pocahontas

We finally set sail yesterday on our river boat cruise.  Most days it feels like a bus tour with the hotel on the boat.  Not that I am complaining as the places we have seen by the bus have been amazing and not accessible by water but still it was nice to finally get underway.  Yesterday our tour of Porto was lovely, one of the prettiest cities I have visited.  They say a picture says a thousand words and since I am late with this post and tired I am going to let them speak for me.

The city was beautiful and I think the pictures do not do it justice.  God bless the skill of the bus drivers for traveling down winding narrow streets that should not even be one way which are two-way!

When we finally got underway it was breathtaking.  Again, I don’t think the pictures do it justice.  We traveled up the river after circling down to the mouth of the Douro where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean and then up the winding narrow picturesque river with a new sight at every bend.

Skip named this one “Buoy meets Gull”

The beauty of the trip is to share the memories with others.  See you around the river bend my friend.

The long and winding road that leads to your door
Will never disappear
I’ve seen that road before it always leads me here
Leads me to your door
